| I was born in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1976, the year of the Bicentennial. My mother is an Inupiaq Eskimo from King Island. My father is Polish-German from the Steel City...Pittsburgh ( Go Steelers !!!). I was introduced to the art of carving ivory, in my dad's studio, as soon as I could hold a sheet of sandpaper. After an apprenticeship at a local Goldsmith's Shop and a stint as a sheet rock deliveryman, a grain Semi Tractor truck driver in Montana, and trips to the North Slope to assist welders and drillers...I decided to apprentice full time at my father's studio. I am married to the lovely and hard-working Melissa Pauwok. We have two sons, Preston and Jon....and, a daughter, Allison. |
